The Fitness staff offer a holistic wellness program for residents at Goodwin House Bailey's Crossroads. A wide variety of classes are offered five days a week. In addition to addressing balance and flexibility, these classes are designed to maximize fitness, beginning with your current functional level.
The Fitness Center studios are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to residents, their guests, and GHBC staff. Aquatics classes are offered weekday mornings according to schedules posted in the fitness center and on the website. The pool is available for open and lap swimming during designated hours Monday - Saturday when it is staffed by a certified Lifeguard.
If you are interested in participating in any of the classes offered or in using the Fitness Center, please contact the Fitness Center Manager, ext. 7331 A Waiver of Liability and a release from your personal physician are required for use of the Fitness Center.
GETTING YOUR STEPS IN
For those wanting a paved surface or something that can be walked using a cane or a walker, three times around our building is a one-mile walk. Leaving the main entrance, walk across to the Knoll Garden, turn left, walking across the driveway. Turn left again to walk up the steep hill to the Clinic Entrance, around to the left, following the sidewalk to return to the Knoll Garden. One more left returns you to the main entrance. Reversing the course is an easier mile because you go down the steep hill rather than up.
For an interior mile-long walk, start at the Crossroads elevators, walk to the Clinic, return past the Art Center, through the art gallery, then proceed to the Pointe elevators. Reverse, returning through the lobby to the Crossroads elevator. Repeat a total of 5 times to walk a mile.
