Event Information

AL Meeting - Monthly meetings for residents are held on AL and on The Terrace. The purpose of the meetings is to enable residents to get together to discuss any problems, concerns, or suggestions. The meetings are facilitated by a staff member. During Assisted Living meetings, news is shared about what is going on in the GH community, and guest speakers are often invited to talk about issues of interest. Recent discussion topics have included Home Care, the Palliative Care program, Dining Services, US mail service, and prevention of falls.

Bible Study - Third-floor residents gather with the GHBC Chaplain in the AL community room to discuss a Bible book or a spiritual concept of their choosing. For example, during Summer 2016, the group looked at Job, and in Fall 2016 looked at Ruth. Depending on the interest of the group, they occasionally discuss other spiritual topics of interest fitting with the group’s needs or the season of the year.

Bingo in the Crossroads every Wednesday at 2 p.m. - Residents enjoy the game of bingo and also enjoys the company of other residents, and winning yummy chocolate as prizes.

Chair Exercises - Chair Exercise is a fun 30-minute total body workout, that focuses on improving muscular strength, coordination, and joint range of motion. The instructor uses fitness props and equipment to keep participants moving and engaged in this energy-boosting workout. Classes are held in the 3rd floor Community Room Monday-Friday at various times throughout the day. Please check the West Winds schedule or the AL monthly activity calendar for a specific time.

Service Project for Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) - Every Friday morning at 10:30 a.m., AL residents gather in the Community Room and Living Room, working with other Residential Living resident volunteers, to tie knots to make net bags for the food bank to use when volunteers are filling up those bags with fruits and produces. This helps the residents of Arlington who are in need of extra food assistance.

Sing-along with Anne and Friends - Mondays at 11:00 a.m. in the 3rd-floor living room. Join residents of Assisted Living on the 3rd floor for a sing-along of popular show tunes, folk songs, and patriotic songs. Lyrics provided.

Scenic Drives- Each month residents have the opportunity to relax and enjoy a ride around a chosen destination. Past destinations have included Mt. Vernon and the Tidal Basin.
