VETERANS COMMITTEE CHARTER

ARTICLE I
The Veterans Committee sponsors programs that honor and assist those who served our Nation in the armed forces and other uniformed services and  conducts programs of historical military interest for the residents of GBHC. To this end the Committee:

  1. Conducts appropriate in-house commemorations on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
  2. Sponsors the presentation of films and speakers; arranges visits to battlefields, military museums, and other places of interest.
  3. Maintains a permanent encasement at GBHC where military memorabilia may be displayed in recognition of veterans’ military service.
  4. Provides a GHBC focal point for military benefits information for resident veterans of the armed forces and other uniformed services, and for survivor assistance information and assistance for widows and widowers of GHBC resident veterans.

ARTICLE II
All residents who are veterans, having served in the military or other uniformed services, are considered members of this Committee. Veterans who attend meetings regularly shall be considered active members and recognized as able to vote.

As a minimum, the Committee shall elect a Chair and Vice-Chair; other officers may be appointed by the Chair. The committee meets monthly at the date, time, and place determined by the Chair at the beginning of the year and may be changed as circumstances warrant.

ARTICLE III
The GHBC Resident Council Chair is an ex-officio member of this Committee. Reports are submitted to the GHBC Resident Council as determined by its Chair.
