MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION
Some residents may benefit from assistance in having their medication administered. If the resident is interested, he/she should contact a nurse in the clinic. After a discussion, the nurse will verify the medications with the resident's physician and then arrange for assistance in one of two ways.
- Using the list of medications provided by the resident's physician, GH/CVS Pharmacy, located at Goodwin House Alexandria, can prepare a one-week supply of pills, which the resident will self-administer. The pillbox (cassette) will be delivered weekly to the Medication Room on Assisted Living, 3rd floor, Crossroads , where the resident can pick it up. Charges for this are outlined HERE.
- Using the list of medications provided by the resident's physician and entered into the electronic medication administration system, medication will be delivered to the Medication Room on Assisted Living, 3rd floor, Crossroads, where Registered Medication Aids (RMAs) dispense it to the resident daily as prescribed. The fee for medication administration is $4.00 per day, which is billed to the resident's account monthly.
