REHABILITATION & HOME HEALTH
The Rehabilitation (Rehab) Department, located on the first floor in the Health and Wellness Center (ext. 7267), is staffed by licensed therapists and licensed assistants. In addition to physical and occupational therapists, Rehab has a speech pathologist who works with residents on cognitive issues and problems with swallowing.
Service is initiated with a physician’s order. Verification of insurance is then obtained by the Goodwin House billing department; this usually can be done in 24-48 hours. Once verification is obtained, the rehab manager will contact the resident to schedule an evaluation appointment.
Residents on HCC not receiving Medicare A coverage may receive rehab services as needed provided under Medicare Part B or secondary insurance.
If insurance will not pay the total cost of the proposed treatment plan or if the resident has reached the Medicare Part B cap on benefits for the year, the resident will be notified and will have the choice to continue therapy on a private pay basis. Concerns or issues about charges for rehab therapies can be addressed to Pam Mittlieder, Resident Billing Coordinator, Ext: 7216, pmittlieder@goodwinliving.org
In addition, Goodwin Home Health offers in-home therapy visits for a range of needs, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language therapy. Contact ext. 1390 or 703-824-1390 for skilled care provided in the home and generally billed to insurance/Medicare.
