GHBC has a well-equipped Woodworking Shop. It is primarily for the use of residents, but it is also available for members of Environmental Services. The Woodworking Shop is located next to the entrance to the Resident Storage area in the Crossroads.
Volunteers from the Washington Woodworkers Guild use the shop and assist and support residents in projects such as repairing furniture, picture frames, or other wood special projects. Any resident can use the Woodworking Shop when a volunteer is present. The hours when a volunteer will be present are posted on the door of the shop and change depending on the availability of individual volunteers, currently Wednesday's 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. Any resident who wants unlimited access to the shop is asked to complete a safety training program conducted by a volunteer. When the training is completed, the resident will receive a Woodworking Shop badge which authorizes him/her to pick up a key to the shop at the Front Desk and to use the shop whether or not a volunteer is present.
